This week we learned about a growth mindset, and that are brains will learn and grow as we challenged more. As a class we feel that we have made improvements in writing decimals when given a fraction or a number in unit form.
Friday, September 30th is our spirit day, and the class voted on blue. If your child needs a blue item, please let me know, and I will make sure that s/he has a blue item to wear. We will also have our walk-a-thon that day, so please send students in sneakers!
Google Expeditions came to our school today. Students got to have a virtual field trip of the ocean. If you have a smart device you can download the Google Cardboard App for free to check out the different trips. At school, we had the cardboard viewers so that we could make the views 3 dimensional. Without the cardboard the images are 2 dimensional, but still extremely cool to view. I plan on downloading the app myself for the classroom. Let me know if you try it out and get to view any exciting places!
Forms for Parent-Teacher conferences were sent home last week. If you have not seen it yet, please ask your child for the form or a new copy. Conference times are assigned on a first come first serve basis. I look forward to our conference!
We have finished our second week of fifth grade, and we are off to a great start! I'm excited to get the classroom website up and running. I will continue to make changes and adjustments to the website. I will also be updating it, so that it can serve as a resource for families to find helpful information. I'm looking forward to a great rest of the school year!
